Bangladesh received Spot Export Order
worth US$ 4.45 million from FATEX Fair
Export Promotion Bureau (EPB) has facilitated some local companies to participate in the 29th FATEX, The Fashion Sourcing Trade Fair organized at Porte de Versailles, in Paris, France during 30th June to 03rd July, 2012. Bangladesh has participated in this fair for the 3rd consecutive time.
Some 200 companies from China, Bangladesh, India, Thailand, Vietnam, Indonesia, Pakistan, Haiti & Hong Kong participated in the exhibition. Participating companies from Bangladesh were Antim Knitting Dyeing & Finishing, Backstage Ready wear Ltd, French Fashion Knitting Pvt. Ltd, KND Garments & Hosiery, M.H.R.R Apparels Co. Ltd, Roktim Boutiques Fabrics & Ladies Tailor, and Ring Shine Textiles Ltd. They exhibited products on apparel and handicrafts. At least 4,000 potential buyers and visitors gathered in the fair many of whom expressed notable interests in dealing with Bangladeshi products.
His Excellency, Mr. ABM Abul Qasem, MP & the Chairman, Parliamentary Standing Committee on Ministry of Commerce, led the two member delegation on the occasion of the fair. The delegate attended several meetings organized by Bangladeshi citizens staying in France. While speaking on those occasions, the leader of the delegate encouraged migrated Bangladeshi business community to popularize our products abroad and invest their remittances in export-oriented industries in the homeland.
Mr. Md. Enamul Kabir, HE, the Ambassador of Bangladesh in Paris, visited the fair several times. Speaking on the status of Bangladesh export, he pointed out some salient features of our economy and the gradual rise of our RMG sector. The Bangladeshi companies received spot export orders amounting to US $ 4.45 million from this event. Furthermore, they received prospective orders worth US$ 17.10mn. They disseminated their company profiles and brochures containing product specifications among the visitors and received trade queries. A good number of one-to-one meetings were held with the potential buyers.
It may be mentioned that participation in a fair like FATEX is a prestigious job for the Bangladeshi entrepreneurs where there is a huge gathering of buyers from European and Afro-Arabian countries. Many of such fairs are organized in the same venue all the year round.
The Commercial Wing of Bangladesh Embassy in Paris has discharged active services in turning the event a successful one. In the fair Mr. Mohammad Enamul Haque Ena, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Commerce and Mohammed Shahjalal, Research Officer, Export Promotion Bureau, Bangladesh were acting as Pavilion Director and Assistant Pavilion Director respectively.
